Loving the Big E

I've been meaning to blog since I got back, that night actually, but apparently I have been too busy! Friends, family, and my David have been keeping me occupied, for which I am very touched and very grateful :) I'm watching my little guy tomorrow while his parents are at a Phillies game and then Mom and Dad will be here the next day. Wow time is flying!

So about this past weekend...

D and I left here around 4:45pm and managed to get to CT by the very reasonable hour of 9:00pm. I love those kind of rides. We got another book on tape, called Book of Fate about the Freemasons (they are prominent in the Philly area). It's fiction, but closely aligned with fact, which confuses me more because I never know what part is true and what part is made up. Anyway, we got through some of it and it's really good. It felt weird getting to CT so early, usually we get there with enough time to say hi before everyone disappears to his/her room for the night. Nick, however, forgot the "going to sleep" memo and came plowing into our with his dog, Cody. Cody thought the party was just starting and didn't manage to calm down until Nick took him out of the room. Lucky he's cute.

The highlight of this trip, besides seeing family, of course, was going to the BIG E!!! I love the fair-type atmosphere and, surprisingly, PA doesn't have anything like the Big E nearby. So, early Saturday morning, Dad, Mom, D, and I piled into the car and headed towards the fair. We met up with Sara, Tony, Ari, and Pete for a bit, too.

I love the atmosphere!!

The Connecticut House. Not the most interesting one, but it's my home state, so I love it just the same.

Two things: The "Jessica's Funnel Cakes" sign and the Bloomin' Onion. I had no sooner said that while I love the Big E, I bet they don't have funnel cakes. Boy, was I wrong. The Big E never ceases to amaze me. And the Bloomin' Onion...I couldn't stop talking about it since we got there, so Dad and D went in search for one while Mom and I polished off a Broccoli and Cheese baked potato.

I GOT TO SEE ARI-FACE!! Oh, and Sara and Tony and Pete were there, too ;)

Saying our goodbyes...

So that was our very fun weekend. Now I get to look forward to this weekend when Mom and Dad will be here. D mentioned that he might be going to Boston for some conference that they said he didn't have to go to, but was really interested in going to. How's that for my nerdy med school husband? Cool and nerdy, yeah, that's what I meant :).

How could you think the Big E DIDN'T have funnel cakes? They have every food imaginable... and some you don't even want to imagine. (I'm still afraid to ask what a fried Oreo is...)

It was good to see you guys--wish it would have worked out for us to hang out longer. We took a different route to the Big E on Sunday and got there so much faster. Oh well...

Great pics! Glad you guys got to enjoy the BIG E! In spite of the demands of Med School I like how you guys still manage to find time for so much fun! Making the most of it!

I was trying to explain the Big E to Josh, how it's this big New England fair. I told him there's not a CT state fair, but this is better. Then I thought some more, and I don't even know if I've been to the Big E! I was trying to conjure up some memories of going, but I came up dry. But I must have been, right? Hmm...

We enjoyed the Big E while we were in CT! I've never tried a funnel cake, I bet it's yummy though.

It is so nice that you guys are good at managing your time so that Dave has time to study and make good grades; and time for for fun. I think if all our DH's spent all their time being serious with no fun in there; the stress would be overwhelming. Don't you think?

Steve keeps busy with Arabic. lol He has 63 weeks to learn how to read, write, and speak Arabic like a native. I don't think I could handle that kind of pressure. I'm glad that we have the opportunity to do things here in the area, etc. It's nice to be able to relax and refuel for the week.

    Love you guys.
