My Two Handsome Men

Micah is a big fan of his daddy. If I didn't tell David that Micah has periods of fussiness like when he wants to eat or be jumped up and down to sleep (almost literally...), then D would think he was absolutely perfect all the time. Basically, Micah likes to make a liar out of me. I know, it's only the beginning. After being on-call Sunday into Monday (and with only half an hour of sleep), D came home to one happy baby. D read him a book while Micah ate and then he changed his diaper and socialized with him for a good half an hour. Then Micah decided that he had had enough and wanted to go to sleep. We wrapped him up tight, made sure he was warm, and D started the bounciness that this kids likes to go to sleep to (I didn't think I was that bouncy when he was in utero...). Not two minutes later, this was the state of Micah:

A few things about this picture: if you want to know the face D makes while he sleeps, there you have it. I'm not sure why these guys feel the need to concentrate on sleeping, but both are very intent on it. Another thing: Micah l.o.v.e.s. his hands. They are his toys and no matter how tight you swaddle him, one or both will soon make an appearance. In my 38 week ultrasound, we saw his hands up by his eyes and they were making a waving motion. Guess what he still does? It's fascinating to watch him do the exact same thing in real life. And yesterday, for the first time, he found his thumb!!! He still pokes himself with the other four fingers because he hasn't found a way to curl them down yet, but he definitely found the thumb and put himself back to sleep. I saw him trying to go for it again this morning, but everything was curled up so his entire fist ended up in his mouth...the opposite problem from yesterday! He's a great source of entertainment!

Both of your men are very handsome. Both have the same sweet dispostion and personalities, too. You are right, Dave fell asleep in the front room the other night and he did have that concentrating on sleeping look that Micah always has! Apple doesn't fall far from the tree! Love, Mom F

Let us not forget, ladies, who the true master of putting that baby to sleep is. Now Dave might be good, but that's just because I have taught him everything I know. Micah is so cute when he sleeps.

It's funny how babies like to be put to sleep all sorts of ways: jumping, bouncing, rocking, shushing, jiggling. That is a cute expression on his face, and I love how his hand being up by his mouth makes his nose scrunch up a little. Matthew has a new smile where his nose scrunches up, and it's so cute!

Matthew also found a way to get his hands out when we would swaddle him. Needless to say the swaddling period didn't last more than a couple months. That's really good that Micah found his thumb and put himself back to sleep. Lately Matthew has been chewing/sucking on his thumb, but he certainly won't use for nap time :)

What a precious pic! I love how his face is scrunched up. Too cute! How sweet that he sucks his thumb. Escaping swaddling must run in the family. lol Olyvia always found a way to get his hands out when we would swaddle him. Steve called her his little Houdini.

Give that sweet little man a squeeze and a kiss from him.

I love watching David with Micah!!! I'm hoping Nick is taking lessons on what it is like to be a QUITE father when the baby is sleeping!!! Because although Nick likes to think that he is the master at PUTTING him to sleep, he isn't so great at KEEPING him asleep!!! ;-)

Ha ha, you are SO right about what Dave looks like when he sleeps. ;)

Ari would always manage to get her arms out when I swaddled her, but when Tony did it, she was locked up tight. He had the touch, I guess.

That is one cute kid you've got there. I need to get over this cold so I can come see him! :(
