D is a card-carrying member of the CMDA (Christian Medical and Dental Association) and as such he is on their email list. Not sure if he's the only one who actually reads every part of every e-newsletter, but he's always telling me little bits of CMDA-related information. As recent as this Monday, the CMDA-related info was a book called His Brain, Her Brain by Walt (MD) and Barb Larimore. He gave me a quick summary and asked if I was interested in reading it and, to his surprise, I was. The back-of-the-book summary reads:
Men and women really are different—even their brains are different—and they were divinely designed that way. Using the latest research, Dr. Walt and Barb Larimore show how the God-designed differences between the male brain and the female brain complement each other to help couples build a delightful, lasting marriage.
So we ordered it and started reading it together last night. It's really interesting and I can't wait to read on, but I wanted to share one part that particularly backed up the notion of "his brain, her brain:"
A professor wrote on the board: A woman without her man is nothing
He then asked the class to provide punctuation.
The overwhelming majority of men answered: A woman, without her man, is nothing.
The overwhelming majority of women answered: A woman: without her, man is nothing.
Like I said, can't wait to read on...

Ha! That's great :) Sounds like a good book. You'll have to let us all know if we should read it or not :)

The book synopsis reminds of a video I've seen: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xxtUH_bHBxs Hilarious!

I had an English teacher in college write that same sentence on the board... and she punctuated it both ways. Her point wasn't that men and women were different, but simply to reiterate how important proper punctuation is. :)
