This is basically what our weekend consisted of (see title if you are confused). It was fun and relaxing and actually I wouldn't mind a few more of these in my lifetime. Friday night, D made us a pasta dinner. He was available to make dinner because he got home, post-call, just before I was leaving for work on Friday morning. I guess Friday was supposed to be a light day, so he decided to make his weekend a three-day one. He said people call it the "Golden Weekend" because a lot of surgeons have Q3 call, so they usually work either a Friday, a Saturday, or a Sunday. Anyway, the dinner was yummy (no surprise there) and we headed off to the movie theater to catch the 7:45 showing. I can't remember the last time I was at the movies on a Friday night. And I probably know why. There was a TON of teenie-boppers swarming the place. All I could keep thinking was, "I'm sooo glad I'm not your age anymore, I'm sooo glad I'm not your age anymore." I asked D if the movie we were seeing was rated R because it was about the only time that I wished any movie was. It wasn't.
But I guess Breach didn't pass the cool test because I didn't see so many kids in there. Lots of older people and couples, more my type of atmosphere! The movie was great. Here's a synopsis offered by IMDb: Based on the true story, FBI upstart Eric O'Neill enters into a power game with his boss, Robert Hanssen, an agent who was ultimately convicted of selling secrets to the Soviet Union. Rotten Tomato critics gave it an 82% and their users gave it 92%, which is really high. I would agree with the users' rating. D and I like movies based on real-life events and we also like mind thrillers. This was both. On the way home, we stopped at the food store to get some raspberry sorbet. I had been craving it and didn't want to make another trip to Coldstone so soon. We had some frozen raspberries in our freezer that were just dying to make their way into some sorbet, so I was nice and let them. It was a really nice late-night snack, and even somewhat healthy. What's even better is that I still have enough for about three more servings...YUM!
Saturday we went on some errands...like to fix my new, but finicky cell phone at Verizon in the nearby mall. Auntie Anne's pretzels just happened to be right next to the Verizon store, so after all my hard work getting a cell phone replacement, we went got Pretzel Stixx. We had a buy one, get one coupon, which is why we tried them. They're easier to eat and they taste the same, but I still like the original pretzel shape. That night, we reversed things and went out to dinner and stayed in for the movie. We had a $5 off coupon for Chili's that we had to use by February 28th, as well as a few gift cards we got from a few people at Christmas. My new thing to do there is get the chips and salsa appetizer (of course, D shares them, too) and then just get Broccoli and Cheese soup with a Caesar salad for my meal. Since the chips and salsa are endless, I always, always, always, get full on them and wish I hadn't ordered so much meal. So it's been working out great. Next time, though, I think we'll try the Italian restaurant owned by the same group that owns Chili's called Maggiano's Little Italy (so you can use the same gift card). It's right next to the Chili's we go to in Delaware. Could anything be better than the Olive Garden?? We'll just have to see.
We were supposed to go home and watch One Night with the King, but neither of us was in the mood for it. We ended up watching it Sunday night. It was a good movie, but I was expecting something more out of it. I don't know why. Rotten Tomato users gave it a 66% and I agree with them. D wasn't so into it either. Oh well, I guess it doesn't do justice to the biblical account. That about wrapped up our nice, relaxing weekend.

Sounds like a nice weekend. I haven't even heard of Breach, but next time we gotr out for a movie, maybe we'll check it out. I keep telling Tony that we should save some of our movie passes for the big movies coming out this summer--Shrek 3, Spiderman 3, Pirates 3 (I'm sure that last one will be totally lame, and I didn't even like the 2nd one that much, but the reason I'll go see it can be summed up in 2 words: Johnny Depp. :)
So I take it that picture is what your new phone looks like? Looks nice! Hopefully it will cooperate with you better than your old one.
I was wondering where Maggiano's is--I don't think they are any around here. We have a Chili's gift card too, and it says Maggiano on it, but I've never seen one. It's also good at On the Border, so I think we'll use it there--I love love love their chips and salsa!

Dinner and a movie then dinner and a movie, I like the way you two shake things up! I liked a Night with the King, though I did have to keep Dad's finger of the FF button a few times! Olive Garden is out and Chili's is in in my book and pretzels are in ALL the time. Love, Mom
