Valentine's Day

You 'n Me

We celebrated Valentine’s Day in two parts this year, which is unusual since we don’t really make a big deal out of it. I guess things worked together just right and I didn’t mind one bit! On Sunday, D surprised me by getting us (half-off) tickets to a chamber concert at a local college. It was entitled “Warm and Cool” because it was a combination of classical and jazz music. The jazz actually came first, the “cool” part, and then the “warm” classical. The concert lasted about an hour and a half and it was such a neat experience. I am as partial to jazz as D is to classical, but each of us enjoys the other genre. I know everyone enjoyed the jazz arrangements because I saw a lot of head-bopping and toe-tapping…and even a little finger-snapping. It calmed down for Mozart’s Quintet in E Flat Major for Piano and Winds, but this piece was also very well done. After the concert, we went to Coldstone Creamery for a late afternoon snack. D printed out the buy-one, get-one coupon we got in an e-mail and then used our gift card we got for Christmas to pay for the “buy one.” It’s a very good thing that I don’t mind being a cheap date!

Then, tonight, we braved the weather and went to a local restaurant that D found online using Restaurant.com. Since it was V Day, the website was having a promotion that allowed you to buy their gift certificates for half price. Again, D got an awesome deal…a $10 gift certificate for only $1.50 and a free $10 gift certificate to use another time. Go David! Anyway, the food was de-lish and I’m hoping we can use that other gift certificate to go to that same restaurant again!

And what did David get out of the whole deal? I got him those new, pyramid tea bags from Lipton. The mandarin orange green tea kind. After closely inspecting the bags, he brewed some tea for us and it's tasty. For all the hype, it really was a happy Valentine's day.

I like that "You and Me" pic at the top of your blog. :)

Sounds like a nice V-Day to me! I'm a cheap date, too, which is nice. I can be just as happy with McD's as with some fancy place. I don't have a very refined palate, lol.

So what restaurant did you go to? And what's the deal with the pyramid tea bags? Are they supposed to make the tea taste better? ;)

I'm so glad you guys had an enjoyable Valentine's.
I'm a cheap date as well, it doesn't matter to me, what we do, just as long as we do it together.
What restaurant did you go to?
