Guess Who Got another Honors in Rads this Week...

David did! I'm so impressed with his God-given ability to know and to remember so much. I have a pretty good memory, but I usually remember most of the details. David, however, remembers ALL of the details and can even offer an articulate commentary on the subject. And he's always summarizing some article or other that he has recently read...by his own initiative. So yay for David, although no one is surprised.

Other happenings include the arrival of my Master's degree diploma. I was expecting some sort of envelope but was greeted instead by a good-sized box complete with bubble wrapping inside. Here it is, all official looking:

My cell phone is there so you can get an idea of how big the thing is!

So that's over and done with once and for all!

Tonight, we were brave and went into the city (summer and/or weekend nights don't make for ideal city-visiting times). Our beloved jazz station sponsors Smooth Jazz Summer Nights at Penn's Landing each Friday night in July and August. I told D about this a few weeks ago and tonight was the first time we were able to make it...and we tacked on dinner at our favorite Mexican restaurant in Philly, The Mexican Post, to make it a complete date night. It worked out that the restaurant and Penn's Landing were within walking distance of each other. And it also worked out that we had a buy-one-get-one coupon for dinner. And it also worked out that the jazz concert was free. And what also worked out was the weather. It went from being oppressively hot to cold (not cool, cold!) and windy. Can you tell by my hairdo?

We were right on the Delaware River. You can probably tell by the sailboat in the background. And those buildings in the distance are in New Jersey. D insisted that, in an emergency, he could swim across the Delaware because it wasn't that wide...

D was too macho to use the blanket. But I wasn't, especially after the sun went down. It was freeeeeezing. D thought I looked funny. I thought he looked funny with goosebumps all up and down his arms.

Jess you like nice & toasty warm all wrapped up in that blanket, true you like like a squaw but so what? Comfort is the main thing, right? ;) LOL! I think you look adoreable! Congrats to you on getting your diploma...it must feel so much more real with it in hand! Congrats to Dave, too on yet another honors evaluation! Way to go both of you! We're proud of the two of you!

What a fun way to end a work week, dinner and a show. Style and looks go right out the window for me when it comes to warmth and comfort! Let's hope Dave will never have to prove his swim-across-the-Delaware theory! Though I am hard pressed to think of an emergency that would require him to do such a thing! The dipolma is beautiful and represents a lot of hard work and effort on your part, Jessa. It should be big and beautiful! Love, Mom F

Definitely a great way to finish up a work week! As long as I'm comfortable and warm; who cares what you look like. Although, my Steve would've shared the blankie with me. lol

Your diploma is gorgeous and definitely well deserved. You put alot of work and long hours into your masters.

    Yay for Dave!

Arghhh I had written a whole big long comment and Blogger didn't cooperate. Anyway, I'll try to remember what I said...

Congrats to Dave! Yes, no one is surprised, but that doesn't make us any less proud. :)

Congrats on getting your real, live diploma, too--it must feel so good to have the real thing in your hands.

Exactly what kind of emergency would require Dave to swim across the Delaware River? He's so weird...

I would have been huddled in that blanket too. But instead of Tony being too macho to use it, he just wouldn't have been cold at all. I swear, sometimes I think we live in 2 different dimensions, the way our innternal temperatures differ. :)
