This and That

This thing is really sprouting:

I should have taken a picture when the leaves were still folded into each other, it looked so cool. I can't help but think how awesome the Lord is...making an entire plant grow from a tiny seed, with all its parts jammed into something that tiny.

I'm really enjoying this thing called free time. I've almost finished an entire book this week, one that D's mom gave me. It takes place in Alaska and has reminded me that I have always wanted to take an Alaskan cruise. Maybe for our ten-year anniversary...ok, twenty-year...?

With this free time, I've also joined a bible study that starts next Monday with friends from church. We're going to be reading and discussing a book called Having a Mary Heart in a Martha World by Joanna Weaver. I'm excited about the book, it looks really good.

I'm picking up A on Friday night for the first time in a while. It's her last day of school, so we're going out and celebrating...and we're going to make smoothies, too. I guess I had promised her a smoothie-making experience a while ago, but didn't carry out said lesson the next time I had picked her up. So of course that was the first thing she said when she got home, "Here are the brownies we made, Mom, but we didn't make our smoothies." She said it like she had been mentioning smoothies all night and I completely ignored her, when, in fact, it was the first time I had heard about any such smoothie promise. However, this time, my kitchen is completely stocked up with smoothie-making ingredients. I am prepared. No more, "but we didn't..." unless she comes up with something else.

2 ice cubes
1 c. soy milk
2/3 c. frozen strawberries
1 1/2 tsp. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla extract

Glad you're enjoying the book. An Alaskan cruise sounds like a plan. Al & Barbara S. are going on one mid-July. You'll have to ask them all about it. That smoothie recipe sounds D-E-L-I-C-I-O-U-S!

That book for your Bible study is a good one. I have it, and I read it a while back. I should pick it up again, since I have free time as well :). Actually, I have this huge Jane Austen book that contains four of her novels, so I'm working on that right now.

That plant is very cool. Is it going to grow flowers or anything?

I miss reading--I have several boboks waiting for me, but lately, I'm finding that reading magazines is much easier--you can just read an article here and there, don't have to worry about following a plot line, etc. Don't worry--it's not all fluff--I read parenting mags as well as my tried-and-true favorite, Reader's Digest. (But I still love my Glamour magazine!)

That smoothie recipe sounds nice and easy--I may have to try it. We just bought some strawberries...

LOL, I keep telling Tony that he's taking me on a Disney cruise for our 10-yr anniversary (of course, I've been saying that for yrs, not just recently), and he always counters with "25." To which I say, "15--final offer." He seems to think I'm kidding...

Yeh, that should be "books" in the first line of the 2nd paragraph... you would think a professional proofreader could at least take the time to proofread her own comments! Geez...
