Haven't posted one of these in a while. But not because my kids aren't some of the cutest kindergarteners ever:
We were having lunch and the kids were at their table and I was at the other, so of course they were talking and talking and talking and talking. One of the kids turned to ask me a question and another emphatically stated, "You can't interrupt her while she's eating! She has to chew her food good because the baby can't swallow big pieces." I can see the logic there...
Another lunchtime conversation: "I know how babies get out of bellies." My mind started to swirl with all the things that could next come out of her mouth and I was frantically thinking of how to respond when she said, "They just cut your belly open. Right? They have to cut it and pull the baby out." To which I stated, "Umm, yes, that's exactly how [some (I conveniently left this key word out)] babies come out..."
As I was leaving on Friday, one of the girls ran up to me and gave me a big bear hug and said, "When your baby comes out of there [pointing to my belly], I'm going to be its best friend!" I hugged her back and told her she'd be the best best friend he could have and walked out the door with a big smile. See, they are the cutest kindergarteners ever!

I had a similar conversation once with a few kids at church, who wanted to know how Ari got IN my belly. But, like you, I was lucky--they had their own explanations, and I was happy to let them keep them.
Aww, that last story makes me kind of sad--they don't realize they're not going to get to meet your baby, huh? ;)

The first story is the funniest! I had a 10-year old ask me yesterday while we were at a church fellowship if the baby likes cake (I had a piece on my plate). And I'm like, yeah, he has to like whatever I eat cause he doesn't have a choice right now :)
