We were very excited to hear, around noon today, that D has successfully matched... somewhere!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yes, some cruel people thought it'd be so much fun to tell med students of their residency match in two parts. First the "if" and then the "where." Days apart from each other. So we found out the if part today, which is yes, and we will find out the where part on Thursday. Congrats to my very smart, very hard-working husband on this first of many accomplishments!! Stay tuned!

Oh, you mean it's possible NOT to get matched? I guess I kind of assumed that everyone got matched, somehow, somewhere. Shows how much I know about this med school thing, lol.
Anyway... congrats on passing Phase 1! At least now you know it will definitely be good news on Thursday! :)

At first I thought you were holding out on us just to torture us, but then as I read I realized it's not you at all :). I'm glad he's matched. It must be driving you crazy to have to wait until Thursday for the rest of the news :).

Dave here. Just wanted to add that I am very relieved to find out today that I matched. Hooray! Thanks for all your prayers.
Sara, to answer your question, more than 95% of people match. Those that don't must scramble (literally) to find a spot that has not been filled. That is the reason that on Monday we are told IF we matched. Tuesday and Wednesday are Scramble days. Then Thursday all matched people can find out where they matched -- after everybody else who scrambled will be "matched" by then as well.

Congratulations, Dave! We had no doubt that you would match! All your diligence has paid off at last! Now we can't wait to hear where you'll be going! Did you match for both your preliminary year as well as your residency? We love you & are so proud of you. But then, you already knew that, right? ;) Way to go, son!

Thanks for clearing that up, Dave-O. It must be good to know that you can just chill today and tomorrow, instead of "scrambling." 2 more days! Rock on...
