Quick Visit

I could have sworn that I said the next time we'd go to Connecticut it would be Thanksgiving. However that's not exactly true. Friday, I called Mom on my two minute commute home and she said she really missed us and that if we came to CT this weekend, Dad said he'd pay for gas. And that maybe we could get a lunch at Stonewell out of the deal (that is where we had our Rehearsal Dinner). Tempting, very tempting. She said that she wanted to go to Philly, but Dad is in the middle of yet another project of adding on to the house and didn't want to leave until he was finished. Alright, I said, I'll talk it over with D.

Visit RingoWe arrived right in the middle of Manly Night on Friday, so we visited for a few hours before bed. Saturday went by nice and slow, which was really nice. Dad and I went food shopping early on, which has somehow turned into our ritual whenever we visit. He always complains about how much I cost him when we go, but he hasn’t turned down a food shopping venture yet. When we got back, Mom was ready to go shopping, how convenient! On our way, Keegs called and said she’d be over later that day, which isn’t new in and of itself. However Saturday was her birthday. Mom and I decided to throw her a little party, so we also got a cake and a few party things, along with a few gifts, while we were out. By the time we got home, it was time to go to Stonewell for that lunch we were promised. Dad, Mom, Dave, and I had a very yummy lunch.

Visit RingoBy the time we got back to the house, it was time for Keegan’s party. There were a number of attendees including Grandma, Grandpa, Auntie, Ana, and other usual suspects. The weather fully cooperated. It was such a gorgeous day that we took the party outside and jammed ourselves onto the deck to enjoy the festivities. I even made party bags. What can I say, we’re kindergarten teachers.

Visit RingoVisit RingoWhen the party died down, we made our way over to Dave’s house for a visit with his family. Peter, much, much, much, much to my surprise, answered the door with open arms ready to give me a hug! This, as you may surmise, never happens, so I took full advantage of the opportunity. I don’t think he’ll be answering the door like that any time soon. But he’s cute.

I tried to stay up late to socialize, but Dad and I sat down to watch 48 Hours Mystery on the couch in the sunroom. Fast forward to 11:30 when Mom woke me up and told me to go upstairs. The next morning, I asked Dad what happened to the guy who was on trial and he said he was going to ask me the same question. I guess I didn’t get as much socializing in as I had planned…and neither did Dad.

We rounded out our short, but long-lasting, weekend with a pot roast dinner in the new dining room. Good thing it’s bigger because we all got to eat together: Mom, Dad, Grams, Grandpa, D’s Mom and Dad, Peter, Ryan, Yana, Nick, Kristina, and Dave and me. In all, it was a fun, random weekend.

I noticed that I was mentioned maybe once in this blog. Why you ask? Well, a random weekend in CT may be over 4 hours away from a random weekend in PA - but I am never too far from my responsibilities. I had to bring my Pediatrics homework with me. I did manage to get my fill of food and fellowship, but I left shopping and parties to Jess. Thanks again. It was great to see everyone.
