Anyone who knows me knows that Mom and I are close, like best friend, call each other every day, tell each other things we wouldn't tell anyone else besides our husbands close. Now, don't get me wrong, at 26, she still parents me when she feels the need to, but obviously it's much different parenting than when I was 6. She does it perfectly, too, not overstepping any boundries or trying to force her will on me. I'm truly blessed to have this relationship because I know mother-daughter relationships can vary from no mother in the picture to having a mom just as a mom, but not a close friend and so on. However, I'm so glad that ours is the way it is and I hope (and know) it always will be because I know we both wouldn't have it any other way.
I probably should have saved this post until Mother's Day, but not only would I have forgotten, but I would have missed a perfect opportunity to say THANK YOU to a wonderful Mom. She is beautiful on the inside and out and she will always be one of my favorite people in the world!
What made me think of all this? I noticed these pictures as I was going through the millions we have of our Christmas vacation and thought about what a cool mom I have:

You are blessed! I can honestly say that your mom is awesome. I've not been around you guys that much, but enought to see how wonderful she is with each of her 3 kids. She's the kind of mom I want to be.

Jessa! What a wonderful surprise to have read your blog this evening. Not only do I adore my children as my children but love and enjoy the young people they have become. You are just the type of daughter I prayed for 26 years ago and the Lord has bless me in answering this prayer in you! I love you and thank you for such a beautiful blog. Love, Mom.

And Eden, thank you for the supreme compliment in your response! In Christ we can be the right type of mother that are children need and rejoice in their growth. It is a two way street, I am sure you have found, as our children are a constant source of learning for us! Love, Kathy

My mom and I are really close too, and I love it. It's weird to look back and remember the times as a teen when I swore I would hate her forever, lol. Gotta love the dramatic teen years. I'm so glad that we can be friends now. There are just some things that you can only tell your mom!
(And you think you and your mom are close now? Wait till you get pregnant! :)
Your mom is so sweet--she makes me feel like I'm her in-law too, even though, technically, I'm not. I think it's so nice how they always invite us to your family get-togethers.
I hope Ari and I can have a really close relationship throughout our lives too. :)
