Positively Pregnant

Yes, this IS a positive pregnancy test you see!

I took it about a month ago now, while D was on interviews actually, and was really excited to see the results! They say the first pee of the morning is best, but this was taken after drinking water all day at work and peeing regularly, so I figured if it was positive at that point in the day, then I was definitely pregnant!

We waited a month to tell everyone because that's when the doctor's appointment was scheduled. I didn't/don't feel pregnant and I wanted to be sure we weren't lying to everyone, so we waited. It was kind of hard, but it was nice having that secret to ourselves for a bit while we adjusted to the news. I feel fine, no complaints at this point and I'm praying it stays that way!

It was really fun telling everyone today, boy does news travel fast! My mother, and father for that matter, told the entire family and some close friends inside an hour. Quite the accomplishment considering everyone that was told. Mom was way too excited, so I'm glad she got the chance to call everyone...I think if you saw her right now, she'd be glowing! Direct quote from her, "Oh I'm just so excited that I just want to go out and buy a ... crib!!!" And Dad's been just as excited, which is odd (for his personality) and cute. D called his parents and his brother and his sisters, which he couldn't wait to do. So the first wave of people knowing is over. We'll tell our friends this weekend. At work, people's jaws were dropping because it was totally unexpected, but it was cool to see their reaction. It's neat to know that this baby is no bigger than an inch and already all these people love him.

On that "him" note, at this point we don't want to find out the sex of the baby. Well I don't and D says he would find out if I wanted to, but won't if I don't want to. So we've just been calling the baby "he" because "it" just seems cruel.

The only difficulty in the forseeable future: Kristina's bridesmaid dress. Yeah, I'm not going to be fitting into that size 4 we bought come June. I'll have to see what can be worked out, but it seems like Mom is already on that, too.

Oh, and some name suggestions we've already gotten:
Ernest William
Trident Forester-Peppa
Alayna

Much more to come...as I think of it. For now, I've added the pregnancy ticker to the side bar of my blog so you can keep track of our baby's progress.

I see I'm the first to post a congratulations on your blog! We are just so excited for you. When I called Grampa today to tell him he said "Wow, I'm going to be a great grandfather 3 times in 2008! I feel old!" LOL! Now it's even more exciting that you're moving back to CT! Enjoy every moment of this extra special time in your life! If you're taking name suggestions, I have one, a Persian girl's name...Leyla."

Congrats, Jess! I told Dave, but I hadn't told you yet :) We're happy for you guys. I got to tell Josh when he got home from work today, and he was excited for you guys. 219 days, huh? Sounds far away for now, but it'll creep up on you before you know it. That sounds so funny coming from me, like I've been pregnant before. Oh wait, I am! duh ;)

Mom, I like spelling that name differently: Leila. It looks better, in my opinion. That's the way Leila Ali spells it, Muhammed Ali's daughter. She's a cool person. She's a female boxer, but she was a contestant on Dancing with the Stars this past season, and she was very graceful and ladylike.

I don't know how I went off on that tangent. Anyways, have fun with all the planning that goes into babymaking. Well, the babymaking part is done I guess ;) Have fun researching cribs and swings and strollers and pediatricians and name origins and everything else :)

Here's hoping you continue to feel great! (as Tony the Tiger would say)

I know I've already talked to you both, but I just had to say congrats again! And it's nice to hear a little more detail, too. I thought it was so sweet that DAve made a point of calling me at work to tell me (even if he did try to mess with me at first).

I heard you've been feeling good, and I pray it stays that way. I had my moments with the morning sickness, but it wasn't every day, so that was good. Mostly I just felt so unbelievably tired that first trimester--so make sure you get lots of extra sleep! and I don't even have to tell you to drink lots of water, because I know you already do that. ;)

So I guess this means I can write about it in my blog, too, huh? ;)

Oh, I forgot to comment on the names... so who gave you those suggestions? (I have some ideas...)

I also love the name Layla, but as you can see, with a different spelling. Not that I'm saying you have to use it--I'm just commenting on Mom's and Mary's comments.

OK, I'm off to e-mail you and send you some websites! :D

Congratulations Dave and Jess, and all the grandparents too! How exciting it is....sixteen months ago I found that out when we were blessed with two (not one) precious little ones...Joshua and Jenna. They are the joy of our lives, I never thought being a grandma could be so great! I love every minute of it! We are so happy for all of you!

Wow! What a blessing...your first is SO special! It is very good that you aren't feeling too sick. How many weeks are you? I am a friend of Steve and Eden's (online). I have a 16 mo old daughter named Eden Joy and that's how we met. I am currently pregnant with my 7th child, a boy. We will have 5 boys and 2 girls. They are such a JOY!
