I was looking through some of the archived pictures we have in our photosaver program while taking a break from packing for Atlantic City. It's only one night, so you'd think it'd be easy--never. But I digress...I came across this photo of my Auntie Karen, my mom, and me. It was taken in the fall of 2004, so you can imagine a lot has changed since then. At quick glance, I would say mostly our hairstyles have changed, but I'm sure other things have too.

It's always fun to be around my mom and my aunt, especially when they're together. They feed off of each other, as I'm sure many twins do. One will start with a joke, the other will extend it, and other will add on, and before long everyone is laughing. No one is safe from their humor, least of all my father. You wouldn't think it at first pass, but he's a really funny guy--both when he's trying to be and when he's not trying to be. Poor guy, but he's handled it well over the years.

I don't really know how I got started thinking about this, but it may have been from watching an excerpt of Dr. Phil today about feuding sisters. How horrible that has got to be. I can think back on childhood years and remember how my aunt was always there helping my mom at birthday parties, holidays, hanging out every Saturday, taking us places, having the coolest sleepovers ever. I guess what I'm trying to say is that I am grateful for a such peaceful family that loves each other. I'm grateful for a family who would rather uplift each other than tear one another down. There are so many negatives that we are bombarded with that I'm grateful to have this positive familylife, starting with my husband. But it started even before him, with my mom and dad, with my grandparents and aunts and uncles and cousins. Amazingly enough you will not hear anyone in my mom's family say one, not one, negative word about another family member. How cool (and unheard of!) is that? I'm sure it takes a lot of effort to create a peaceful environment, but the rewards seem endless. Hopefully more and more people will catch on! Posted by Picasa

I love my family too--we are crazy, but we have so much fun together! And I love the special bond between me and my sister--we're not twins or anything, but we do think a lot alike sometimes! (Scary, huh?)
