Ok, so we weren't really under the boardwalk, but we sure spent enough time walking on it. We arrived in Atlantic City around 10:30am on Saturday and began our vacation with a funnelcake and a hot dog on the Boardwalk. Can you guess who had what? Very delicious. Since our hotel room wasn't going to be ready until 4:00, we had lots of time to enjoy the beautiful weather and, of course, the beach. That's where we headed next and spent the next few hours dipping our toes in the ocean (the water wasn't so bad once you were numb), reading, sleeping, and people watching. It was so incredibly relaxing to hear the waves crashing on the shore and to smell the salty air, so relaxing in fact that I decided that we should make the beach an annual destination. I'm not sure that Dave shared the same sentiments, but we shall see. After a few hours on the beach, we were ready for a scene change. Still full from our "brunch," we walked up and down a section of the boardwalk mentally listing the things we wanted to do and see that night. Obviously we don't gamble, so that eliminated 95% of the featured activities, but there was still plenty to do. We were finally able to check into our hotel room which turned out to be this realllllly nice suite that we weren't expecting. We walked into the living room on our left and a fully stocked kitchenette on our right--tea kettle and all! After the living room was a balcony facing the ocean where we ate breakfast Sunday morning. It was very windy though, so our muffins got cold rather quickly and D didn't haven't to put an ice cube in my tea. Anyway, back to the layout...past the kitchen is a hallway that lead to the bathroom and then to a bedroom. We didn't know what to do with all that space. We actually ended up sleeping on the futon in the living room because that's where we fell asleep watching tv! But falling asleep wasn't til later because we still had to walk 10 blocks to Ruby Tuesday to have a delicious dinner, peruse the boardwalk in the dark (it's a very different experience from the daytime),
check out the mini amusement park, get some blue cotton candy that as of this writing we still haven't finished, act like we belonged in the Trump Taj Mahal so we could check it out, and avoid an ambulance that was checking the vitals of a passed out homeless man. Yes, all this can be yours for free (minus $3 for the cotton candy) in Atlantic City. We started the morning with a funnelcake and a hot dog and ended it with cotton candy. What more could you want out of a vacation?? After a sound sleep, we woke up to brilliant Sunday morning skies and a chilly southwest wind off the ocean (ok fine, I made up the part about the wind direction). We spent a leisurely morning in the suite packing, and getting ready to check out. Then we went to the Chelsea Cafe on the boardwalk for lunch and splurged on a strawberry (waffle, yum) cone and a black cherry cone before we visited the beach one last time. It had to be between lunch and leaving that I got a little...um...rosy. Just on my shoulderblades. And just on the places where the suntan lotion wasn't. I did put some suntan lotion on and I can prove it, by the outline of my fingers on my back...on both my shoulderblades.
That aside, it was a wonderful getaway with a wonderful husband who is going to make an awesome third year medical student one week from today!

Sounds like you had a great time. Making it an annual event sounds great too--phooey on Dave if he doesn't like the idea. ;) Y'all just need to move back to CT after med school, and then you won't have to spend all your vaca time visiting family. ;) You guys will have to check out VA Beach sometime. I've heard Ocean City, MD is nice too--Tony's been there lots of times, and he's promised to take me there sometime.
