Paging Dr. K

David got a pager today. This might not seem like a big deal in the grand scheme of things, but it is another step closer to him being a doctor. He was a fountain of information today when he got home from orientation, it was so cute. I could tell he was extremely excited about the whole thing because he was actually reading all the hand-outs that no one actually reads. I could also tell that he was extremely excited by the overstuffed pockets of his white coat. This guy was PREPARED. It was probably somewhat of a let down to find out that the residents who he will be shadowing weren't at the hospital because they had been on call the night before. So he was home by 4, but that will be unusual. From what I gathered, he will be on call every 5th night, whatever day that ends up being. He won't have to sleep over, but he won't be home til like 8 or 9pm. Which is cool because I'm used to not having him around at all on Thursday or Friday nights due to his job at Ruby Tuesday. He wouldn't get home until 12 or 1am those nights. So it'll be an adventure for the both of us. I told the girls at work about his pager and they said, "So begins the life of a doctor's wife." Whatever that means. It's all in what you make of it and I am so proud and so awed by what Dave has accomplished thus far, that I can only imagine all the good things yet to come. We have a lot to be thankful for, like blessings from Heaven, love and support from our families, awesome church friends, and each other. With all these things he can't help but succeed...however, having an overstuffed white coat sure doesn't hurt, I suppose.

Aww, look at his cute little white coat! Sounds like it will be an interesting summer for both of you. Maybe if I get bored when I'm on maternity leave, we'll pack up the kid and come visit. Wouldn't you love to have a screaming baby in your apartment? ;)::insert evil laugh::

    Dave,
Congratulations on starting your 3rd year! May it be a wonderful experience for you! We are so proud of you (& love you, too.LOL)
    Jess,
I think what your friends meant about the life of a doctor's wife is that from now on whenever that beeper goes off your plans get interrupted. I'm talking from experience. But it's a great life. Think of all the advantages, a doctor in the house whenever your future kids get ill, etc.! You're a wonderfully supportive wife to Dave. He's blessed to have you!
    Love,
    Dad & Mom & Pete
